Paul earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Georgia State University graduating Magna Cum Laude. He has over 46 years’ experience in the financial services industry.

Initially, Paul worked for a “Big 8” CPA firm in Atlanta performing compliance audits on the qualified plans of the firm’s closely held business clients. As a result of this experience and the passage of ERISA in 1974 he was recruited by one of the country’s top 10 employee benefit firms to become Regional Group and Pension Manager serving southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia. After this, Paul worked with one of largest and most respected life insurance companies until 1993 when he left to form the SouthBridge Group so that he could expand the products and services he could offer to his clients. This led to strategic partnerships with local, regional, and national firms to deliver quality service to his clients and allowed him to form Paul Jacobs & Company, LLC in 2004.

In 2019 Paul merged his practice into Lawson Winchester Wealth Management. Although he has no plans to retire this is part of a strategic succession plan for the benefit of his clients.

Paul has been active in industry organizations serving on the local boards of the Estate Planning Council, the Tax Practitioners, the Planned Giving Council, the Society of Financial Service Professionals, and as President of the Chattanooga Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. He also served the community as a member of the Allocations Committee of the United Way, as a member of the Downtown Club of Rotary International and as both a Scout Leader and Board Member of the Cherokee Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He served on the Education Committee and with his wife, Lynn, as Co- PTO President for the Chattanooga Christian School. Paul is also a member of the Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church where he serves as deacon.

In addition to these and other volunteer activities, Paul serves on the Executive Board and Board of Trutees of the Charles H. Coolidge National Medal of Honor Heritage Center. He also served as a 1 st Lieutenant in a “Quad 50” Battery in Vietnam.
